Whisper #18
Reclaim your favorite hour(s) of the day.
What’s your favorite hour of the day?
Most people have a certain time of the day they generally look forward to the most.
For me, it’s the morning hour before other people slide into the office (or into my Slack message deluge if I’m WFH). On the occasions when I’m tired and consider hitting “SNOOZE,” I usually decide against it. I truly crave that hour of peace in the morning.
I also look forward to 11 pm and beyond, when I’ve been known to stay up late, put on country breakup music (which alarmed my husband every time, back when we shared a Spotify account), and make a giant pot of vegan curry soup.
Whenever these hours happen, they should be cherished, and they should be yours and yours alone.
Maybe it’s the morning. Birds are chirping. The sun is rising. The quiet is your zen.
Maybe it’s the peak of the day. Sun is at peak. The world is awake and alive. The buzz is your buzz.
Maybe it’s the quiet hours after dinner as the sun sets. The pace slows. Moon peace is your peace.
Work schedules, soccer practice, and other commitments can get in the way, but I’m here to encourage you to fight for your favorite hours. Reclaim them for your most desired purpose.
There are 24 hours in a day, and claiming 1-2 of those for yourself and the activities that fill your bucket is a gift that will make the other 22-23 hours more productive and peaceful.
