Whisper #3
What don't I know about the challenges in your role?
We all suffer from main character syndrome at least on occasion, thinking that we’re the main event and everyone else is just part of our day. Yet, no one enjoys working with self-centered people who don't take the time to appreciate their goals and challenges.
Making mental space and a smidge of time to ask your colleagues about their challenges can deepen your connection and set the stage for long-term productivity and a more rewarding working relationship.
You'll definitely learn a lot more if you make yourself a kickass sidekick and understand what your colleagues are experiencing. You'll also be better able to tailor your work to address their challenges and increase the positive impact of your efforts.
